The Adam Smith Institute

"The Adam Smith Institute, founded in 1977, is one of the world's leading think tanks. As an independent, non-profit and non-partisan institution, they promote free market and neoliberal ideas and advise a range of national governments in their crucial policy decisions.

Their strategy for changing the world is both long-term in changing the landscape of opinion, through the education of students and the wider public about classical liberalism and the use of free markets, and short-term in terms of changing policy.

The ASI was one of the key drivers behind the privatization revolutions in the 1980s and 1990s and has always been renowned for its innovative policy ideas. Their mission is to use free markets to end poverty in Britain and around the world.

As well as conducting research, publishing reports, holding seminars and conferences, they have demonstrated their commitment to developing the next generation of policymakers and opinion formers, with its renowned and highly regarded youth programmes.

The ASI is forward-looking, quick to embrace new technology and new opportunities to promote its ideas.

Discover Economics

Economics has a diversity problem. State school and black students are under-represented among economics degrees and fewer than 30% of current economics students are women.

Discover Economics is a Royal Economics Society campaign to increase representation in economics. Our main objective is to broaden the appeal of economics to 15-to 17-year-olds. We aim to change their perception of economics and raise the voices of students from historically underrepresented groups (women, state school and further education college students, ethnic minorities members of the LGBTQI+ community, and more).

Our vision is a world in which the brightest and best students, irrespective of their backgrounds, are attracted to economics. In which potential students see economists as being people just like them and are excited by the idea of studying economics.

IEA.png

The Institute of Economic Affairs

The Institute of Economic Affairs is a leading free-market think tank, founded in 1955, with a focused aim to improve understanding of the key institutions of a free society. They achieve this through analysis and detailed explanation of the economy’s social and economic problems. A number of the IEA’s publications were from Nobel Prize-winning economists.

As an educational charity, its mission is to promote the academic case for why a freer economy is important, considering the economic challenges in the UK and the wider global market. Central to their mission is wanting to create a society that encourages entrepreneurship, effective use of environmental resources and innovation. It is completely independent of any political party or group. They are one of the nine think tanks that form EPICENTER, the European Policy Information Center, recommending the values of a free society, impacting EU policy debate and laying out their perspective on trade policy, free movement and many other current affairs.
