European Think Tanks Group

  • The Overseas Development Institute (ODI)

These six institutes can count between them on some 400 researchers, covering all aspects of international development and humanitarian policy. They share a strong commitment to higher global welfare, and a strong belief in the importance of better collective action to achieve global goals. As think-tanks, and as policy-focused research institutes, they also share a commitment to effective outreach and engagement with policy-makers and policy processes.

GRADE

GRADE

The Group for Analysis for Development (GRADE) celebrates 40 years as an applied research center in social sciences in the midst of an unprecedented health emergency, which has led to a serious economic, labor, rural and educational crisis, among other fields, with gender biases in each of these areas. As a group of researchers, we have started a series of research, development and program monitoring activities, as well as dissemination through our website, social networks, publications and virtual seminars.

We think that both our accumulated experience on these issues, as well as the most recent one, deserve an institutional reflection from GRADE with a view to what post-pandemic Peru could be in different areas of development. This context also coincides with the year prior to the bicentennial of Peru's independence, which is commemorated in 2021, a year in which presidential and congressional elections will be held. We are then, for different reasons, at an appropriate time to reflect on the reforms that the country needs for the future.

Through equitable and sustainable partnerships, we work with governments, philanthropic foundations, non-governmental organisations, academics and civil society to transform approaches to progressive social, political and economic change in ways that ultimately make a difference to people’s lives. Our reputation for research and international outlook is second to none and reflected in our performance in the latest QS World University Rankings where we are ranked first in the world for development studies, together with the University of Sussex. We are also ranked as the number one international development think-tank by the 2019 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report.

Represented at the Warwick Economics Summit will be our Business, Markets and the State cluster, particularly focusing on the political economy of trade and development, and the International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD). The ICTD is a global policy research network, devoted to improving the quality of tax policy and administration in developing countries, with a special focus on sub-Saharan Africa.
