WES Presents: Dr. Sushil Wadhwani

We’re pleased to bring to you our first WES Presents event on 17th November, as part of a series of free stand-alone events in the months leading up to the Summit in February.

Our first speaker this year is Dr. Sushil Wadhwani. A distinguished economist, scholar and investor, he is a former full-time external member of the Monetary Policy Committee at the Bank of England, and is currently the CEO of Wadhwani Asset Management LLP as well as being a partner at Caxton Associates.

Whilst spending a considerable part of his career in both the private and public sectors, Sushil Wadhwani CBE is also a Visiting Professor at the London School of Economics where he completed his entire higher education, obtaining a BSc (Econ), MSc (Econ) and PhD (Econ) before going on to lecture in Economics from 1984 to 1991. His academic research focused on financial markets and the determinants of unemployment and inflation.

Prior to working for the Bank of England (1999 to 2002), Dr. Wadhwani held several positions in the financial sector. He spent four years as Director of Equity Strategy at Goldman Sachs International (1991-95), before joining Tudor Proprietary Trading LLC as Head of the Quantitative Systems Group, where he was also a Partner and member of the Management Committee.

Now the CEO of Wadhwani Asset Management LLP, a London-based fund management company specializing in systematic/quantitative macro investing, Dr. Wadhwani has earned a reputation of of producing returns uncorrelated to traditional markets.

In 2002, he was appointed Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by Queen Elizabeth II.
