It is hard to believe that it has been over a year since we assumed our positions as the Summit Coordinators, and even harder to believe that it has been nearly a month since the 2016 Summit!

The past year has flown by for us and whilst we have immensely enjoyed our time as the Summit Coordinators, we are also saddened as this now means that our time in position has come to an end. Of course, we are incredibly overjoyed with how our tenures have turned out, especially with the success of the 2016 Summit which received wonderfully positive feedback from delegates, speakers, sponsors and observers, providing many happy memories for us both.

Our time as Coordinators began with our appointment back in February 2015, and thus we would like to firstly thank our predecessors, James Sullivan and Maria Vittoria Foglia, for giving us the opportunity to serve in these roles and for providing advice to us throughout the year whenever we needed it.

We would also like to offer an overwhelming thanks to our entire WES 2016 team with each and every one of them putting in an amazing amount of effort in their respective tasks to ensure that the Summit was delivered to excellent standard. They were also a joy to lead and we are delighted to have gotten to know them over the past year, making lifelong friendships in the process.

Now, with WES 2016 over, we look to the future. We are delighted to formally introduce to you the new Summit Coordinators for WES 2017, Hashir Ahmed and Paula Garcia Domingo, who have already begun work on the event. We wish them the best of luck in their roles and feel incredibly confident that they will take WES to even greater heights.

It has been a great honour and privilege to serve as the Summit Coordinators, certainly not an easy task but an enjoyable one nonetheless that we have both learned from greatly. As a result, WES 2016 shall always hold a special place in our hearts and memories.

Farewell,

Max Rodgers and Piyushaa Newatia
