Announced: Professor Nicholas Crafts

We're pleased to announce the next speaker in our line-up for WES 2016, Professor Nick Crafts.
Professor Nicholas F. R. Crafts is Professor of Economic History at the University of Warwick and Director of the ESRC Research Centre, with focus on Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy.
Professor Crafts has always been actively involved in academia, both in teaching and research fields. Before his return to Warwick University, where he was previously appointed lecturer from 1972 to 1977, he had been professor in other highly regarded academic institutions amongst which are London School of Economics and Political Sciences (1995-2005), the University of Leeds (1987-1988) and Stanford University (1982-1983).
Besides academic teaching, Professor Crafts has produced a substantial body of papers for academic journals, the British government and international institutions, such as the International Monetary Fund. His main topics of interest are the European economic growth over the last 200 years, the Industrial Revolution and international income distribution, with specific analysis of the Human Development Index.
Furthermore, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2014, an illustrious reward for contributions in the Arts, Sciences and work with welfare organizations and extra civil public services.
With regards to his education, Professor Crafts holds a First Class Honours Degree in Economics from Trinity College, Cambridge University.
