Announced: Mark Littlewood

We're pleased to announce the next speaker in our line-up for WES 2016, Mark Littlewood.

Mark Littlewood is the Director General of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) and the IEA’s Ralph Harris Fellow.

Littlewood served as the Director of Liberal Vision from 2008 to 2009, a classical liberal group within the Liberal Democrats before taking up his current position at the Institute of Economic Affairs in December 2009. He was head of media for the Liberal Democrats from December 2004 to May 2007.

In 2007, Littlewood co-founded Progressive Vision , 'a classical liberal think tank' and was its Communications Director until November 2009. Previously, he was campaigns director of human rights group Liberty from 2001 until 2004. In 2004, he became a co-founder, and first national coordinator of NO2ID, Britain's leading pressure group opposing the introduction of national identity cards. He has been chairman of NO2ID since 2006

In 2014, Littlewood was ranked 38th on The Times’ ‘Right-wing Power List’, and in 2011 was named ‘Liberal Voice of the Year’ by the Liberal Democrat Voice. He frequently comments on political and economic issues on television and radio including BBC Question Time, Any Questions, Newsnight, Channel 4 News, Sky News, Radio 4's Today Programme and LBC.

Littlewood was educated at Balliol College, Oxford where he studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.
