We are proud to announce that Lionel Zinsou, the Former Prime Minister of Benin, will speak at the Warwick Economics Summit 2017.

As a French-Beninese economist, Lionel Zinsou has truly made his mark in both the public and the private sector. He started his distinguished career as an academic at Paris VIII University, and later progressed to the role the Dean of Social Sciences at the prestigious Ecole Normale Supérieure; an institute he was also taught at. It was in 1980 that Zinsou made his first step into politics, where he became a member of the Research and Forecasting division of the French Ministry of Industry and four years later, went on to work as a speechwriter in former Prime Minister Laurent Fabius’ cabinet. In 2006, Zinsou was named a special adviser to the President of Benin, Yayi Bonin, and ultimately was nominated to be the Prime Minister of Benin from 2015 to 2016.

Aside from his roles in the public sphere, Zinsou remains a respected member of France’s business elite. He has held many positions at Danone and was even named partner Rothschild & Co. More notably, in 2009 he was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of PAI Partners, France’s largest private equity firm.
