Warwick Economics Summit 2017 to host Dr. Nirmalya Kumar, Visiting Professor of Marketing at the London Business School.

Described as one of the world’s most influential thinkers in strategy and marketing, and having once been called a ‘rising superstar’ by The Economist, Prof. Nirmalya Kumar initially studied in India, before receiving his MBA from Chicago and his Ph.D. in Marketing from Northwestern University’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Prof. Kumar’s fruitful career intertwines academia and the corporate sector. He taught at the Harvard Business School and the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland, amongst others. From 2001 to 2009, Professor Kumar was a member of five Boards of Directors of Indian firms, such as Zensar Technologies and ACC limited. He then went on to serve as a member of the Group Executive Council of Tata Sons. In 2011, Dr. Kumar received the Global Village Award from Thinkers50, for contributing to the understanding globalization and prospects offered by emerging markets by the business community.

He has also authored six books, most of which were published by Harvard Business Press, with three best-sellers including: ‘Brand Breakout: How Emerging Market Brands Will Go Global’, ‘India Inside: The Emerging Innovation Challenge to the West’ and ‘India’s Global Powerhouses: How They Are Taking on the World’. Currently, Dr. Kumar serves as a visiting Professor of Marketing and the Director of the Aditya Birla India Centre at the London Business School, as well as Distinguished Fellow of the Emerging Markets Institute at INSEAD.
