Farish Ahmad Noor

Political Scientist, Historian, and Associate Professor at the Rajaratnam School of International Studies

Dr. Farish Ahmad Noor is a renowned political scientist, author and historian and is presently an Associate Professor at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and the co-ordinator or its doctoral program. He is also a member of the United Nations Panel of Experts on Religion and Politics. Farish holds degrees from the University of Sussex, the School of Oriental and African Studies and studied for a PhD at the University of Essex. He now conducts extensive research on South and South-East Asian Political dynamics and the region’s 19th century history. His work on its colonial past is of particular importance, and includes such publications as America’s Encounters with Southeast Asia 1800-1900: Before the Pivot (Amsterdam University Press, 2018).
