Warwick Economics Department

The Department is widely regarded as one of the top university Economics Departments in the UK and Europe in terms of teaching and research. In the most recent Research Assessment Exercise conducted by the UK Government, Warwick Economics was placed in the top five British departments of economics for research quality, tied third equal with Essex and Oxford (LSE and UCL occupy the first two places). In the most recent Teaching Quality Exercise conducted by the UK Government, Warwick Economics secured a maximum 24 out of 24 for teaching quality.

The department believes a firm foundation in modern economic analysis and appropriate quantitative methods are required for both teaching and research. This has been the style of economics at Warwick since the Department's beginnings in 1964.

The Economics department has a number of leading centres for research such as the Centre for Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy (CAGE), the Economic Research Institute, the Centre for Research in Economic Theory and its Applications (CRETA), the Warwick South Asia Group, the Centre for the Study of Globalisation and Regionalisation and Institute for Employment Research.
