2012 Summit Bursary Winners

Richa Srivastava

I am a fourth year undergraduate, pursuing Integrated (5 year) Masters in Economics at Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur. My academic interests are Game Theory, Applied Microeconomics, Behavioural Economics, Monetary Economics and Mathematical Finance. In 2011, I was selected as a DAAD WISE scholar to pusue undergraduate research in Germany. I had an incredible summer interning at the Economics of Innovative Change, a joint international research program of the Friedrich Schiller University and the Max Planck Institute of Economics, Jena, where I worked on Scientific collaboration between developed and developing nations and witnessed it at the same time.

I am interested in learning about new and innovative ideas which make a direct impact on our lives. I am open to new experiences and I love to travel. The Bursary scheme provides me an opportunity to do the same. I look forward to being a part of an event which sees participation of revered personalities from such diverse fields. I hope to interact with these people and learn from them. I am confident that it would be a great learning opportunity and that I would make the best use of it.

Pulkit Agrawal

I am an Undergraduate in Economics at Harvard University, Massachusetts, United States. In 2009, I was selected as a United States delegate to attend two prestigious events:  UNICEF’s Junior 8 Summit in Rome, a summit held in concurrence with the annual G8 Summit and the Children’s Climate Forum in Copenhagen, which occurred simultaneously to the Conference of Parties 15.  My participation in these conferences sparked my passion to create a world where the inequality gap between the rich and the poor is greatly reduced and it has thus shaped my long-term career goals of working with underdeveloped economies. I have also learned the importance of sustainable development for mitigating the impact of poverty.  My interest in economics revolves around developmental economics, as I believe that the key to fighting poverty in many underdeveloped countries is through investment in human capital and public infrastructure.  The Warwick Economics Summit is an amazing opportunity to meet and share ideas with students, professors, and economists from around the world who share a similar vision, and I am looking forward to learning from so many great minds.  In addition to my interest in economics, I am also taking classes in computer science and electrical engineering at Harvard University.
